I was thinking the best course would be to clean up all the drivetrain and put it on the new frame then just swap the body panels.

Off topic - The Nissan Leaf should have leaf springs.

But wouldn't you call the springs for a Nissan Leaf, "Leaf springs" anyways?

Leaf leaf springs, and buying a new set would lead to a conversation where you could use the phrase "need to spring for some new Leaf leaf springs."

I think they should rename all the Leaf parts with arboreal names.

"Oh shit! My acorn joint is hosed!"

There's a story I read about Steve Wozniak. He made the game "Breakout", and one of his little bits of fun was that any mistakes causing you to lose the game were accompanied by the phrase "OH SHIT." This, of course, was wiped out in the game's release, but it makes a person wish that this would be the headline phrase on the screen when one of the newer cars with a digital dash had something go wrong.
